These FTZ cable lugs, also known as starter lugs, are the best we could find (except for the HD terminals - see below). They are made by a leading manufacturer of electrical components for transportation and industrial applications. They are less expensive than the brand often found in chandleries, but are equal or superior in our tests.

FTZ starter lugs are made of 99.9% copper, with a substantial tin plating, and are unique in that they are polished . The barrel is slightly flared and chamfered for easy wire insertion. The cable size is stamped on each lug.

If you have cables that will be subject to unusual strain, or want a premium cable, the heavy duty Power Lug versions are available.

Lugs are manufactured in China by US-based FTZ, a division of nVent, who also owns Gardner Bender, Ilsco, and other electrical device manufacturers.

We recommend the FTZ crimping tool, which provides a substantial diamond-shaped crimp with no voids, or an appropriate hydraulic, mechanical, or electric crimper.
