Due to the ongoing global health crisis, Bay Marine Supply personnel are working remotely for the foreseeable future, but we are still operational! In-store transactions or consultations are NOT AVAILABLE at this time, but orders may still be placed for will-call pickup by entering coupon code localpickup during checkout. If you place an order for will-call pickup, our S/R specialists will call you when your order has been pulled and is ready. PLEASE DO NOT come to will-call before you have received a call indicating that your order is ready.

Will-call pickup is at the rear of the warehouse; masks are required at all times and hand sanitizer will be available at the pickup desk to help ensure the safety of your families and ours.

Orders of in-stock items placed before 12 noon Pacific will usually ship or be available for pickup same-day; orders placed after 12 noon will usually ship or be available next-business-day. Please note that, as global manufacturing has slowed due to the pandemic while at the same time demand has skyrocketed, item availability is subject to rapid change. If an item you order is out of stock, we will contact you to let you know and offer -if we have it- the projected lead time for restocking.

Thank you for your patience and understanding through these trying times, and we wish you and your families fortune and health!

Product Description

    Details

We can provide the full line of Victron AGM and Gel batteries. We do not stock Pb batteries, so orders will be shipped directly from the manufacturer and may require 1-4 weeks to fulfill.

Victron Gel Batteries offer best deep cycle durability and overall longer life. The use of high purity materials and lead calcium grids ensure that for both AGM and Gel products have particularly low self-discharge so that they will not go flat during long periods without charge. The design life of Victron 12 volt gel batteries is 12 years. 2 volt gel long-life batteries have a design life of 20 years.

Victron 6V AGM and 12V AGM Batteries have very low internal resistance making them particularly suitable for high current discharge applications such as for inverters, thrusters and winches as well as engine starting. The design life at normal temperatures is 7-10 years.

All 12 volt batteries are supplied with M8 (5/16") drilled, flat copper terminals ensuring best possible connection contact. The batteries are compliant with both CE and UL specifications in ABS fireproof containers and come with Victron's 2 year world-wide warranty.

    Low Self-Discharge
Because of the use of lead calcium grids and high purity materials, Victron batteries can be stored during long periods of time without recharge. The rate of self-discharge is less than 2% per month at 20°C. The self-discharge doubles for every increase in temperature by 10°C. Victron VRLA batteries can therefore be stored for up to a year without recharging, if kept under cool conditions.

    Exceptional Deep Discharge Recovery
Victron batteries have exceptional discharge recovery, even after deep or prolonged discharge. Nevertheless repeatedly deep and prolonged discharge, have a very negative effect on the service life of all lead acid batteries, Victron batteries are no exception.

    Battery Dischaging Characteristics
The rated capacity of Victron AGM and Gel Deep Cycle batteries refers to 20 hour discharge, in other words: a discharge current of 0.05 C. The rated capacity of Victron Tubular Plate Long Life batteries (2 volt cells) refers to 10 hours discharge. The effective capacity decreases with increasing discharge current. Please note that the capacity reduction will be even faster in case of a constant power load, such as an inverter.

Victron AGM deep cycle batteries have excellent high current performance and are therefore recommended for high current applications such as engine starting. Due to their construction, Gel batteries have a lower effective capacity at high discharge currents. On the other hand, Gel batteries have a longer service life, both under float and cycling conditions.

Effect of temperature on service life
High temperature has a very negative effect on service life. The service life of Victron batteries as a function of temperature is shown below.

Average Temp AGM Gel Gel Long Life
    20°C / 68°F 7 - 10 years 12 years 20 years
    30°C / 86°F 4 years 6 years 10 years
    40°C / 104°F 2 years 3 years 5 years
