Victron Energy

Victron Energy is based in the Netherlands, has been building power systems since 1975, and enjoys a worldwide reputation for innovation, reliability, and quality. Their range includes pure sine wave inverters and inverter/chargers, battery chargers, DC/DC converters, transfer switches, gel and AGM batteries, alternators, battery monitors, solar charge regulators, solar panels, and network solutions. They serve the marine, vehicle, and off-grid markets.

We see Victron Energy products as original equipment in many of the high-end European and South African boats, and especially in luxury yachts. They have a fully-stocked warehouse in Maine, two repair facilities in the US and in most major countries worldwide. Victron has also recently increased the warranty on all of their products (except batteries) to a full 5 years. We really like Victron products, and recommend their Energy Unlimited manual for anyone living off batteries.

Victron Energy set the standard for both stackable and hybrid inverter-chargers, and both the Quattro and MultiPlus lines support those features. Up to 6 of each can be stacked, and both three phase or split phase operation is possible. When generator or shore power is limited, the battery charging function will automatically be reduced as the load increases, and the inverter will ultimately supplement the external power as needed.

All of Victron's inverters are pure sine wave.

Victron also makes a number of inverters without chargers, ranging from a handy 180VA portable to the Phoenix 5000VA, which is stackable for up to 24kW of continuous inverter output. The under-1200 watt inverters are excellent for mobile and jobsite uses where reliability is a must, and will end up costing less than replacing disposable budget-brand units every year or two. These inverters are built to last, and their efficiency means more power from your batteries.

When it comes to battery maintenance, Victron offers both the Centaur analog and the Phoenix digital battery chargers. Both feature 90-265 VAC input for worldwide use. Victron also has a number of smaller chargers, both waterproof and water-resistant.
